Corrales view

The Village of Corrales is located in the Metropolitan Albuquerque Area, it is bordered on the east by the Rio Grande River and Sandia Indian Reservation, on the south by the City of Albuquerque, and on the west and north by the City of Rio Rancho. The Corrales Scenic Byway, Highway 448, is a seven mile stretch of New Mexico charm, with a view of agricultural fields, historic buildings, and local markets. With a population of approximately 7,300 residents, Corrales has a goal of maintaining it's rural lifestyle. It is believed that the Corrales area has been occupied since about 500 A.D., and was originally occupied by the Pueblo Indians, they have been followed by Hispanic, European, and American families. Originally families raised grapes, apples and livestock in the area, but today Corrales has broad green pastures and many orchards, its historic and artistic character, and of course the sounds and scents of roosters, cows, horses and sheep. The areas surrounding Corrales are firmly in the 21st Century, cross the town line into Corrales and you will find yourself in another time and place with a much more relaxed pace from times past.

Corrales Home

Located along the Rio Grande River, the sound of running water and the scent of roasting green and red chile will greet those who take the time to stop a while and take in the surrounding sights. Take a leisurely ride along Corrales Road, off of the intersection of Highway 528 and Coors Boulivard in Western Albuquerque, through the township as it loops around and back to Highway 528 approximately 8 miles further north in the River's Edge area of Rio Rancho.
